Why I Started This Blog - A Q&A
I was looking through the blog recently, and decided that I should really do an updated “about me” page. Because there are a few things that I’ve never addressed that I want to mention, and overall, I just want you guys to know a bit more about what Epilepsy Warrior Moms is all about.
And my daughter suggested that I write this updated version in a Q&A format. So here we go…
Who are you?
Let’s get the most obvious question out of the way first, who am I? I’m a mother of two daughters and three dogs, a business owner, and someone who’s very passionate about epilepsy. Which leads perfectly into the next question…
Why is epilepsy important to you?
Epilepsy is a topic that’s near to my heart because of my youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was a toddler. You can learn more about her journey through my series of updates on this blog.
But suffice it to say, as a mother, there’s no greater motivation to become interested in something than your child being affected by it.
Why did you start Epilepsy Warrior Moms?
It’s estimated that around fifty million people in the world currently have epilepsy, which means that somewhere in the world… There are fifty million mothers of people who suffer from this disease. This site is primarily for them, but also for anyone else who wants to learn more about this condition.
Because despite how widespread epilepsy is, it’s still misunderstood by so many. There are countless stigmas surrounding it, and lots of judgment as well. But I believe that if we arm people with the proper knowledge, this could change. And that eventually, the world might understand people like my daughter a little more.
So if I can help with that, even in a small way; I want to try. For my daughter, and for every mother like me who’s had to watch their child suffer from this illness.
What is your posting schedule?
Currently I don’t have a posting schedule that’s set in stone, because this blog is only able to be a passion project of mine at the moment and my job, as well as my family, takes up most of my time. But eventually, I’d like to post at least two articles a month.
Any more questions?
Feel free to leave them in the comments below, and I’ll use them to update this post as regularly as I can.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll check out some of my other content!
